Bushing has released code to backup your Wii’s private keys.
This isn’t the prettiest code I’ve ever written — it doesn’t have much of an interface, and I just threw this release together in a few minutes. However, it’s been exceedingly useful to me, and hopefully some of you will find it useful, too. I’ll quote the README here:
This program will do the following, automatically:
Download IOS11 from the Nintendo Update Server
Patch it to remove the MEM2 protection (so the PPC can access all 64MB of it)
Patch it to allow it to delete itself later using ES_DeleteTitle()
Find an unused IOS slot (counting downward from IOS255)
Install the hacked IOS11 there
Reboot into the hacked IOS
Copy the private key structure from the IOS address space into MEM1
Reboot back into a sane IOS
Delete the temporary, hacked IOS
Display the keys on screen
Try to write them to a file on the SD card — keys.txt
Pause for 60 seconds to allow you to copy the keys down using pen and paper, if necessary
I wrote this a week or two after I killed a Wii trying to reproduce tmbinc’s original Tweezer Hack. May it rest in peace.
The first version of this code just used a patched version of IOS, which was an ugly hack. It’s still an ugly hack, but at least it no longer contains copyrighted code. You should only really need to run it once on any given Wii, but it should be safe to run as much as you want. If nothing else, it demonstrates the kinds of ways you can use PatchMii_core to do something useful (as opposed to just running it and then packaging the result up as cIOS).

Redbird has released a new application called the Title Uninstaller, which can remove any title from your Wii regardless of whether you have the original file used to install. It can remove titles such as the Homebrew Channel, which only are released in ELF format.
From the release notes:
I present the Title Uninstaller v0.1. Basically, you could say it’s a WAD Uninstaller that does not require the original WAD. The operation is as follows:
- Sample titles installed on the Wii (only normal channels, nothing in the system).
- Allows you to select a particular title and delete it.
The process of erasure is identical to that of WAD_manager, but removing the information from the Wii itself rather than require an external WAD. The advantage is that it is more convenient and does not require the original, which sometimes is hard to find or the wrong version, etc. …
Precautions:
- The process of erasure is the same as the WAD_manager, so you should not give problems. It deletes everything that needs to be deleted, but the Wii will still remember traces of what was installed (daily usage, etc. …).
- If you install channels with the identifier of the HBC (’HAXX’), you will delete all of them. The problem is that the real Homebrew Channel cannot be picked out.
- If you delete the HBC intentionally or by mistake, the program can give an elbow DUMP or leave the Wii hung back while trying to HBC. The erasure will be carried out correctly, but the program can not go back to something that no longer exists. That only happens with the original HBC. The other channels, although having the same identifier that HBC should not give problems.

DragonMinded, the creator of the popular DS homebrew application DSOrganize, has released his first Wii homebrew application. The DragonMedia Player is a native Wii media player which supports several different formats, including MP3, MOD, and WAV.
From the release notes:
A native Wii application (no Wii Linux) with the intent of being a multi-source media player on the Wii.
DragonMedia Player will pick up files anywhere on your SD card, and plays sequentially once a file has started. Simply install into the HBC by copying the dmp folder in the zip file to /apps/ and run the program. Do not rename the folder as DragonMedia Player expects things to be in the correct order to function.
I am working on getting common formats such as flac and ogg integrated, and I am interested in supporting as many strange formats such as spc, sid, nsf, etc, so look forward to more support.
Currently supported formats:
it
mod
mp1
mp2/mpa
mp3
s3m
wav (8/16/24/32 mono/stereo)
xm

teknecal has released a Wii homebrew program known as the Homebrew Browser. This allows you to install, update, or remove homebrew applications right from your Wii. All of this is done with the goal of keeping your SD card inside your Wii at all times.
From the release notes:
The Homebrew Browser allows you to grab the latest homebrew applications and games all through your Wii. No longer will you have to take your SD card out to load the files or transfer the files from your computer to the Wii or even use your computer. Once you install a homebrew application and you no longer want it on your SD card, you can delete it as simple as that!
No more dead links, no more extracting files, no more finding out if there is an icon.png and meta.xml in the homebrew application/game!
Features
One click download and install for each homebrew application
One click deletion of homebrew applications
Able to update your version of a homebrew application once an update comes out for that application
Caching of the homebrew application pictures
Auto updating when your Homebrew Browser version is out of date
Limitations
Currently this application is limited to receiving homebrew applications that only use a single file (boot.dol/elf). Homebrew applications that load other files from the SD card won’t be on the Homebrew Browser list.
Usage
Run the included ELF with your favorite method to boot homebrew. Uses the Wiimote with IR.
A SD card icon under the homebrew application image means that you have the latest version of that homebrew application installed, while a clock icon means you don’t have the latest version. You can update your installation of that homebrew application or install new homebrew applications by pressing A. You can delete homebrew applications provided that they have a SD card or clock icon by pressing B.
