News article from Tehskeen:
Version 4.1 of the System Menu for the Nintendo Wii was built on June 24th, 2009 and released on July 3rd, 2009 in Japan, and released in America and Europe on July 15th, 2009.
Apparrently, there is a bugfix whereby if a VC/WiiWare game is played from SD, and then Wii Sports Resort is played, it forces you to watch the motionplus tutorial, although it was meant to be only watched once, on the first run.
Wiimpersonator log
Nothing has been broken with this update, bannerbomb works fine, using the hackmii installer to install the likes of the HBC is fine, so no need to worry.

Nintendo has released a new Firmware Update for the Wii.
It is highly recommended that you do not update the firmware prior to knowing the effects.
Information from WiiBrew:
23 October 08: Nintendo has (finally) released an update which blocks fakesigning on all IOSes. As usual, updating is not recommended until further details and implications regarding homebrew are examined.
New Information posted at Tehskeen:
Wii Firmware Update v3.4 - Blocks Hombrew Channel & More
Dydjnamite23 has posted some solid information regarding the recently released Nintendo Wii Firmware Update (v3.4). Here’s the info …
A. Does it affect WADs?
- If you had the most recent cIOS, I believe that WAD Manager 1.21 STILL works (it does for some i believe…), Unsure though!!
B. Does it affect HBC?
- If you had yours already installed, it doesn’t, but it seems to block new installations of it.
C. Does it affect Already installed games?
- In no way this upgrade affects anything already installed, unless it is something that must use a IOS, because they have been patched.
D. Can you downgrade and have the Shop Channel working?
- I think you can’t downgrade for the time being, so nobody can test if you can enter the WSChannel after downgrading.

Kotaku is reporting that, starting in the Spring of 2009, the Wii will have the capability to save games to the SD card.
Finally. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has just announced that, beginning in Spring 2009 (at least for Japan), Nintendo Wii owners will be able to download software directly to an SD card. “We have to address the console’s insufficient memory storage,” said Iwata, speaking at today’s Nintendo Fall Press Conference. This obviously applies only to WiiWare and Virtual Console games, but hey, since they were the things clogging up your memory in the first place, it’s hard to see this as anything other than good news. Not perfect news, but still, better than silence.
