The support for the WiiTracker project has been fantastic with well over 400 unique serial numbers having been entered into the system and growing steadily each and every day. In addition for great data about regions, drive chips and cut pins, we received numerous tips about Wii consoles that didn’t quite fit the mold as well as tips on how we could improve the WiiTracker.

As of today the serial number analyzer is open for public use. Simply plug in your serial number and the WiiTracker will compare it against the database and provide an analysis of what hardware you have in your console. In addition to the serial number analyzer we also have a beta version of the hardware graph which provides a visual representation of the changing Wii hardware over time. Other new additions include a new question about the Wii hardware dealing with the recently discovered Wii consoles that are missing Wiikey solder pad #3 and some basic stats about the tracker so you can see how many serial numbers are in the database, how many are being used to generate results, and how many are waiting in queue to be checked over for use.

Due to popular request we’ve also added a supporters page so anyone who wishes to help support the WiiTracker by way of a permanent link from their website will have a permanent link back to their site from the WiiTracker Supporters page. Not to be outdone the M3 Team has released version 1.07 of the M3 Loader following yesterday’s announcement from the R4 Team. This version includes all of the same improvements and fixes as the R4DS update.

Costello has released version 0.2 of DSHobro for the Dev-Fr.org development competition. DSHobro is a homebrew web broswer for the DS. It interfaces with a PC which parses the webpages and sends them to the DS. This latest version marks the first usable version of the application.

Lazyone has released an Alpha version of the Wolf3D DS Demo. Based on the classic revolutionary PC FPS of the same name this release is the first update to the project in quite some time.

From the release notes:

klee over on the VW-Vortex forums decided to use the Wii Remote as a G-Meter for his VW Jetta. He used GlovePIE on his laptop to communicate with the Wii Remote via the Blue-Tooth interface and dump all of the accelerometer readings to a comma delimited file. He then made up an MS Excel spread sheet with some basic physics calculations and graphs of the data.

While the creator goes on holiday he is offering up the Wii Brick Blocker Source code to anyone who wants to work on the application in his absence.

The source code is not publicly availble but it will be made availble upon email request before 9:00pm today (presumably GMT+1).

Wii Brick Blocker is an ISO tool for Wii games that strips out any included dashboard update code and prevents consoles from being “bricked” when they attempted to install an incompatable dashboard update from another region.

Team Cyclops has released firmware version 3.5 for the Cyclowiz modchip for Wii. Version 3.5 of the Cyclowiz firmware fixes dual layer DVD support. While Cyclowiz has always supported dual layer DVDs version 3.0 of the firmware broke that functionality which is now fixed in version 3.5. Installation instructions are available in the support section of their website.

In addition to a new firmware they’ve also released a new tool called the Dual Layer DVD Test Tool that can be used with any Wii modchip to detect it’s dual layer disc compatibility. Since all Wii games are shipped on single layer discs the laser assembly is not tuned properly to read dual layer DVDs even if the firmware supports it. This tool will allow you to test whether or not your Wii is capable of reading Dual Layer DVD discs.

Xtremtuner has an new article up showing off the WiiControl. The WiiControl is an external USB based device that is capable of monitoring the Wii’s internal temperature and preventing it from overheating, At certain temperature levels it will go from from a simple LED alert, to an audible alarm and eventually power down the console. It even includes LCD output and modchip integration

Yet another Browser based game site has been launched that offers a version optimized for the Wii’s Opera Browser. Though unlike existing game sites WiiPicross is designed as a larger community based game site.

Team R4 has released version 1.11 of the loader for their Slot 1 DS backup and development flash cart. This new version fixes a number of bugs as well as adds some new features. in addition to claimed 100% support for download play, it also includes fixes to the reset function as well as on the fly, in game toggling of cheats as well as an updated version of the MoonShell multimedia player.
