After yesterday’s announcement of the new copy protection scheme deployed by Nintendo through Mario Galaxy both Team Cyclops (makers of Cyclowiz) and Wiikey have announced solutions, in addition to the already working d2ckey.
From the Team Cyclops announcement:
We have a new firmware in beta-test (V3.6) that seems to run “protected” games fine. Be warned that not all the chip features/setups where tested yet, so if you want a firmware that has been completely tested, please wait a few more days.
IT IS HIGHLY SUGGESTED NEVER TO UPGRADE YOUR WII FIRMWARE FROM AN IMPORT GAME, AS IT COULD BREAK YOUR WII MENUS.
From the Wiikey announcement:
Issues with Super Mario Galaxy
Within the last 24 hours, we have received a huge number of emails from Wiikey users asking about the issues with the new Super Mario Galaxy game that are affecting all serial modchips. We would like to assure everyone that we are currently investigating the issues and will post a new announcement as soon as we have something to report.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and for your continued support. Although we cannot reply to each individual email, please be assured that all of your comments are being read and taken seriously.
…
In addition to the announcement made earlier today about Super Mario Galaxy, we are pleased to confirm that we have now identified the copy protection method responsible and created a fix.
In order to guarantee stability, we have had to make a fairly major change to the way the code works. While all tests have proven positive, the challenge now is to create a delivery system to allow existing Wiikeys to be updated.
As ever, we appreciate your patience and support while we do this.
Cyclowiz firmware 3.6 can be downloaded through our forums or through the link above via Rapidshare, the Wiikey solution has not yet been released. We’ll keep you updated of any new firmware solutions.

As reported by ds fanboy, in reference to a Edge Magazine article, there is a rumor that an official Flash Cartridge may be coming to the DS. With this cart, not only will download content be possible, but homebrew as well. While this, at first glance, seems to be far-fetched, there is potential here to create much more revenue for Nintendo in the long run.
Normally, if we saw an unsourced rumor stating that Nintendo was planning to release its own DS flash media, for the purpose of offering downloadable Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles via a Virtual Console-type service, we wouldn’t even take the time to write one very long sentence about it. But, as the previous very long sentence suggests, we have reason to at least consider the plausibility of this rumor. It was reported by the usually trustworthy EDGE magazine, so it gets at least a “we don’t know” shrug from us. Maybe?
If true, EDGE speculates/reports, this development would then lead to a download service like Wii Ware, for original DS content. Confusingly, this is cited as a move to allow officially-supported homebrew content, and thus removing some of the usefulness of non-Nintendo homebrew devices, which can also, of course, be used for piracy. Would it be worth giving up homebrew for the ability to buy the same games? Standardization would at least be nice. And we’d all love some downloadable Game Boy games.

A new product has popped into the scene called Wlip, produced by a Spanish team Wlip is the first solderless adapter to become available for the Wii. The way in which the adapter works makes it easy to use with nearly any modchip on the market, but more easily with homebrew modchip solutions.
Wlip works by clipping over the drive chip itself, they also make claim that it functions reliably with drive chips that have cut pins. The method of attachment also opens the possibility for a potential future version compatible with D2C chips.

From the website:
Wlip is an adapter that has been designed especially to install any Modchip in your Wii in a faster and easy way and without damage for your console, because there is no need for [soldering].
You can install it yourself without any technical procedure in a few minutes.
The Wlip adapter is the answer for the demand of thousands of users who want to install a Modchip in their console but they just don’t trust in a complex procedure which may damage their Wii, or even drill your console for new Wiis version (with cut legs), loosing your guarantee.
In Installation Section we teach in a few simply steps, how to place the adapter Wlip in your console. And to show you up how simply it is, there is a video in the demonstration section where the Wlip is installed in 10 minutes.
You won’t only save time, you will also save money because Wlip is sold for only 24.95 € (the Modchip is not included) For all those advantages, Wlip has risen as the ideal way of installing your Modchip for Wii. Don’t be deceived. It is the best solderless installation.
