Quake Wii Update

Using Peter Mackay’s Quake port, Eluan has released a version compatible with the Wii. It features Wiimote IR support and front SD reading, although saving needs to be enabled to work. This release was quickly created, and has a few bugs to be worked out currently.

From the release notes:

  • It resets properly on the Wii (still not able to return to the loader, though.)
  • Reads files from the front Wii SD slot (saving disabled, forgot to reenable it before uploading, but you can remove the return lines on SYS_FileOpenWrite and SYS_FileWrite to make it work.)
  • Wiimote support, tried to map the buttons on the wiimote and nunchuk more or less like the gamecube ones, wiimote IR aiming and nunchuk up-motion jumping.
  • That’s it, please don’t complain about the wiimote implementation and SD card reading yet. The wiimote code is completely new to me (and I don’t know about the real stability of the code on the libogc cvs) and the SD reading doesn’t use libfat yet, but use the wiisd functions from the latest libogc CVS.

VBA 1.7.2 port for Gamecube and Wii UPDATED

At tehskeen, emu_kidid has released a few improvements to the VBA Emulator

    Download:
    VBA172_GC&Wii.rar
    Homebrew Channel Pack

I decided that I would do a few little minor additions to this emulator before I dropped it totally from my list and so here’s the results.

    Wii Port
Wiimote / Classic Controller / Gamecube Pad support
    Front-SD ROM Loading
    Front-SD SRAM Saving and Loading
MEM2 ROM Storage for fast access
In-game Menu with ability to exit to loader (Home button)
Auto frame skip for those core heavy games

    GC Port
    SDGecko ROM Loading
    SDGecko SRAM Saving and Loading
In-game Menu with ability to exit to loader (X+Y)
Auto frame skip to give you the illusion of full FPS

Please note, there’s not much of a GUI if anything. The only way you can load another ROM is to exit to the loader through the in-game menu or simply reload the DOL.

Please note, this is coded in PAL60, if you change it you will probably mess up the timing and things will go horribly wrong due to frame-skip relying on this.

Roms must be placed in /VBA/ROMS/ and cannot be compressed.
Saves will be placed in /VBA/SAVES/ and will automatically be loaded if they exist.
The GBA BIOS file is to be placed in /VBA/BIOS/BIOS.GBA.

If you want to use a Wiimote/Classic Controller, turn it on during the ROM selection menu for it to be detected.

Full source code is included. You will need to wait until the current libOGC CVS is updated to devkitpro r15 and actually working. I compiled using a modified devkitPro r14 and libogc from CVS. Use the pre-compiled GBA.o (done with level2 optimizations) if you wish to compile this software again. (GBA.d will need to be modified) This is a messy build process but it’s the only way to get it working for now.

Sven Peter has updated Sven’s blog with information on the USB status for the Wii.

I’ve (finally) been able to create a patch for libogc today which just got accepted and adds my usb-storage code to it - just wait for the next release or get the CVS version if you know what you are doing. Thanks again to shagkur for some miscellaneous fixes and hints to my code.
